Webgroup Report 2007

This report was drafted for the January 2007 WEFT Board of Directors meeting. The purpose of this report is to bring the Board of Directors up to date on matters pertaining to the station's online presence. All of the changes below were implemented starting May 2006.

DOMAIN STATUS
WEFT.ORG
- The domain was registered with GoDaddy since February 3, 1999. It was most recently renewed on February 3, 2006 by Euan Fernsler on behalf of WEFT.org.
- As of February 3, 2006 the domain will be registered with Dreamhost.org for as long as we continue to host the website there.
- WEFT's Dreamhost account comes with one free domain registration. This means that as of February 2007, WEFT will not be paying for domain registration.
WEFTFM.ORG
- The domain was registered with CSL Computer Service Langenbach GmbH on July 4, 2001. It was last renewed on July 25, 2006 by Groogroo Productions, by Zachary Miller. It will expire on July 4, 2007.
- Webgroup has been phasing this domain out. It does not intend to renew the domain registration.
HOSTING STATUS
Since late May 2006 WEFT has had an account with Dreamhost. Because we paid with a check, the transaction was complicated, and the account was not activated until late July. The website was moved to Dreamhost by July 31, 2006.
The hosting fee was $119.40 for 1 year for the "Crazy Domain Insane" hosting plan. WEFT will not be rebilled until July 2007.
Since December 2006, Dreamhost is offering FREE hosting in the form of a bigger and better hosting plan to not-for-profits. The Station Manager has agreed to submit the necessary paperwork. Once this is done, WEFT will no longer be paying for hosting.

Users that are heads of committees, secretaries, or otherwise responsible for related website content a given "editor" permissions. As far as Webgroup is aware, all such users have been trained to use the website.

All users have equal permissions allowing them edit any page (with one exception, see below) on the wiki and add new pages.
There are 2 admins: Steve Severinhaus, Zhenya Tumanova.
